Purpose of ECJH's House System

The mission of ECJH’s House System is a culture shift that focuses on positive behaviors and celebrates those characteristics that are seen in successful adults. The overarching goal of our house system is to develop an admiration for positive behaviors, work ethic, community service, and citizenship.

The objectives for the house system are improved behavior, deep connection and developed skills

  • Improved Behaviors: Students will show improved behavior and attitudes to reach higher in academic performance. Having students remain in classes, remain engaged, and continuing to push themselves and each other.

  • Deep Connection: Students will feel a stronger sense of connection to both the school, staff, and peers, increasing attendance and participation in classes and extracurriculars.

  • Developed Skills: Students will develop leadership skills, leading to better academic achievement and personal growth.

ECJH’s House System is built to be a fun experience for students to want to come to school and achieve their highest standards in preparation for their high school years and those after. It is also developed to drive competition among students and staff to drive the campus to push itself in all aspects of relationship and education. Relationships over everything.

House systems have been proven to provide students with:

  • A sense of belonging

  • Reduction of anxious behaviors

  • Teamwork

  • Unity

  • Responsibility

  • Pride

  • Inclusion

We want to emphasize those traits found in successful adults.

One of the missions for the house system is emphasize characteristics seen in successful adults. Some characteristics that will receive points will be resilience, optimism, empathy, growth mindset, adaptability, passion, drive, and responsibility.

The Points

East Chamber’s point system is directly used from the Ron Clark Academy. Both the House System and Point System work together to create a safe and competitive environment. Points are collected throughout the year by each student, which counts towards the House’s total. In the end, the House with the most points wins the House Cup.

The first rule of the point system is that all points are earned by the students, not given by the staff. Points are valuable and should be treated as such. They are rewards for students that go above and beyond, not just meeting the expectations for the campus. Because points are earned and not given, students cannot have points taken away from them. Once they are earned, the points belong to the students.

The second rule is points need to be in point follow the Point Distribution Guide to help gain equity in the points and not have what RCA calls, “point inflation.” According to RCA, one point should be the standard reward for something great. Two points should be above and beyond. The higher the point reward the more extrordinary the action.

Lastly, students should never ask for point for doing something they’ve been told.
